Military service demands extraordinary sacrifice — and the impact doesn't end when the uniform comes off. Whether you're a veteran, active duty service member, or military family member, I provide culturally competent therapy that understands the unique challenges of military life and honors your service.

Understanding Military Culture

Military culture values strength, resilience, and self-reliance — qualities that serve you well in service but can make it difficult to seek help. I understand the military mindset and provide therapy that respects your experience while helping you address the challenges that come with service, transition, and reintegration.

Certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD

I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based treatment specifically designed for PTSD. Unlike other mental health conditions, PTSD does not tend to go away on its own — it doesn't occur in episodes. Instead, it becomes chronic when left untreated. Many veterans I've worked with have put off therapy for a long time, often because they don't want to recount the details of traumatic events they witnessed or experienced. What I love about CPT is that it doesn't require you to relive those details over and over again, unlike some other PTSD treatment approaches. Instead, CPT focuses on what you've been telling yourself about what happened. Together, we examine your beliefs, your thoughts, and how you internalized these traumatic events. I am skilled at pacing treatment according to your individual needs and what you can tolerate. We will never go at a pace faster than what feels safe to you, and I will never pressure you to share anything you don't feel ready to share.

Common Challenges for Service Members and Families

Military-connected individuals may experience PTSD and combat-related trauma, moral injury, adjustment difficulties during and after service, relationship strain from deployments and relocations, grief and survivor's guilt, substance use concerns, military sexual trauma (MST), identity challenges during transition to civilian life, and family stress related to military lifestyle.

Support for Military Families

The impact of military service extends to the entire family. Spouses, children, and parents of service members face unique stressors including frequent moves, deployment anxiety, reintegration challenges, and the emotional toll of supporting a loved one through service. I provide therapy for military family members who need their own space to process and heal.

Advocacy and Supportive Documentation

I am committed to advocating for the needs of veterans, active duty service members, and military families. This includes providing supportive documentation for disability claims and Social Security applications as needed, ensuring you have the professional support required to access the benefits you've earned through your service.

Partnership with The Headstrong Project

I currently partner with The Headstrong Project, providing outpatient individual, couples, and family therapy to veterans, active duty service members, and military family members.

If you qualify for their services, Headstrong will cover 30 sessions free of charge for your treatment and then subsidize a large portion of your sessions thereafter. Visit theheadstrongproject.org for more information and to see if you qualify.
