Trauma can leave lasting imprints on your mind, body, and relationships. Whether you've experienced a single traumatic event or complex, ongoing trauma, the effects can feel overwhelming — but healing is possible. I specialize in trauma-informed therapy that honors your experience and empowers you to reclaim your sense of safety, trust, and wholeness.
What Is Trauma?
Trauma is any experience that overwhelms your ability to cope and leaves you feeling helpless, frightened, or disconnected. It can result from a single event — such as an accident, assault, act of violence, or natural disaster — or from ongoing experiences like childhood abuse (emotional, physical, or sexual), neglect, domestic violence, or systemic oppression. Trauma affects everyone differently. What matters is not the event itself, but how it has impacted you. There is no hierarchy of trauma, and your experience is valid.
How Trauma Therapy Can Help
Trauma therapy provides a safe, structured space to process traumatic experiences at your own pace. I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma and PTSD, and I also use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT to help you reduce distressing symptoms, develop healthy coping strategies, rebuild a sense of safety in your body and relationships, and move forward with greater resilience and self-compassion. In our sessions, the focus will not be on recounting all of the traumatic details of your experience. Instead, we will focus on how you've internalized the traumatic event that you experienced or witnessed — the beliefs, emotions, and patterns that developed as a result — and work toward healing from there.
Signs You May Be Experiencing Trauma Responses
Common trauma responses include flashbacks or intrusive memories, nightmares or difficulty sleeping, hypervigilance or feeling constantly on edge, emotional numbness or detachment, difficulty trusting others, avoidance of reminders of the trauma, irritability or sudden mood changes, difficulty feeling joy or pleasure, and physical symptoms like muscle tension, headaches, or stomach issues.
A Safe Space for Healing
Healing from trauma requires a therapeutic relationship built on trust, safety, and respect. I am committed to creating an environment where you feel seen, heard, and supported — without pressure or judgment. I will honor the pace that you need in order to feel safe enough to do this difficult work. Through telehealth, you can access trauma therapy from wherever you feel most safe and comfortable in Florida.
