Start Your Healing Journey
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps you develop practical skills for managing intense emotions, navigating relationships, and building a life worth living. DBT has proven highly effective for a wide range of mental health challenges.
What Is DBT?
DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices and acceptance strategies. It teaches four core skill sets: • Mindfulness — helping you become present, aware, and non-judgmental of your thoughts and emotions. • Distress Tolerance — surviving crisis moments without making things worse. • Emotion Regulation — understanding and managing intense emotions. • Interpersonal Effectiveness — communicating your needs and cultivating meaningful relationships.
What Research Shows DBT Is Effective For
Research finds DBT to be highly effective at treating: • Borderline personality disorder (BPD) • Eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating) • Depression and chronic suicidal ideation • Anxiety disorders • PTSD and trauma-related conditions • Substance use disorders • Self-harm and impulsive behaviors • Intense anger and emotional dysregulation • Bipolar disorder • ADHD-related emotional challenges If you feel like you have great insight into your patterns but keep struggling to change your behavior, DBT might be the ideal fit for you.
DBT in Practice
In our sessions, we'll work on building and practicing DBT skills that you can apply in real-life situations. You'll learn concrete tools for managing emotional crises, improving relationships, and creating sustainable change. DBT is not about eliminating emotions — it's about developing a healthier relationship with them.
My DBT Training & Experience
I have been co-facilitating a virtual DBT skills group for over six years. Currently, I partner with Dr. Stacey Rosenfeld at Gatewell Therapy Center to co-facilitate a virtual DBT skills group. DBT can be provided individually, in a group setting, or as a combination of both. Together, we will determine the best treatment approach to suit your unique needs. If we determine that DBT skills group therapy could be a helpful addition to your treatment, I can facilitate your entry into this group.
